Episode 85: Dan St. Germain

This week, Nikki considers the pros and cons of her new Manhattan digs and tells a grand story of comedic rebellion that explains why she doesn't get many corporate gigs.  Though this is comedian Dan St. Germain's (John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, My Dumb Friends podcast) first official YHTBT appearance, he was previously the guest on this podcast's only lost episode, locked away in the Disney Vault for being, in Dan's words, "too sad".  The talk this time around starts out kind of dour, too, with tales of epically vindictive exes, but soon morphs into a fun litany of frank sexual histories, including Dan's weird nuts, Sara's minor orgy, and something called "Jeff Dunhamming".  Combat your post-Sandy cabin fever with this great episode (and then check out this recent post from previous guest Gavin McInnes celebrating Nikki's photos from the subways (remember those?)).

Episode 84: Sam Morril

This week, Sara gives a visceral account of her triumphant if unglamorous half-marathon and Nikki connects over the awkward joy of a good leg-pain massage.  The ladies then welcome their guest comedian Sam Morril (@sammorril, Comedy Central's "Comics to Watch") who, like Nikki, is a regular on the Comedy Cellar's storied stage which, for those of you west of the Hudson, means he's makin' it.  The trio spend the episode exchanging war stories of poor audience manners, from innocent post-show snubs to inexcusably proud hecklers, and save just enough time at the end to first damn then forgive Billy Crystal, that jerk and/or saint.

Episode 83: Rory Scovel

This week, Nikki and Sara toss around contest-caliber costume ideas for Halloween before losing their minds welcoming back to the show comedian Rory Scovel (Conan, @roryscovel).  Rory and the ladies bond over a shared love of yelling at strangers in public, especially in Des Moines, home of the Most Difficult Audience on Earth.  Before long, the discussion focuses on eliminating the BS from relationships and marriage myths, an issue groom-to-be Scovel feels particularly strong about.  The episode ends goofily enough as Rory fails a pop star audition and Sara and Nikki ban a shameful celebrity from their TV show before it's even begun.  Hear, hear!

Episode 82: Jeff Dye

This week, Nikki and Sara are back in Brooklyn and reflecting on their busy September travels.  The ladies recently collaborated with their guest comedian Jeff Dye (Last Comic Standing) on a couple episodes of his insane MTV series Money From Strangers.  Jeff conveys the mind-altering power of playing God on a prank show and Sara and Nikki offer previews of the most absurd situations they controlled during their stint in the MFS van.  The podcast gets healthy as Sara, a newly-minted jock, compares her grueling running regimen with Jeff's torturous LA workouts and Jeff warns the group about the perils of scammer yogis.  Listen 'til the end and you'll discover the dark side of uplifting TV, experience the thrill of gift-giving/getting when Nikki surprises Sara with a wobbly collectable, and learn more about rats than you will from any other podcast this week, guaranteed.

Episode 81: Nikki DeLoach

This week, Nikki and Sara borrow a studio deep within the Nerdist HQ to bring you more LA updates.  Having recently regained consciousness, Sara explains her humbling near-death experience with a bug.  Then Nikki tells what was going through her mind during her wholly successful Conan set and shares the compliments the host/her hero paid afterward.  In continuing the theme Teen Stars Done Good (see ep. 80), this week's guest is Nikki DeLoach (The All New Mickey Mouse Club, Awkward.)  Nikki was a part of the MMC cast with Spears, Gosling, and Timberlake and lived the 90s fantasy of girl groups, perms, and popstar boyfriends.  After some reminiscing, Nikki details how she broke out of the machine and strove to get herself educated and acclimated to a realer world.  Before long, she reentered the industry with the perspective required to tackle more challenging projects, like her current role as the extremely imperfect mother Lacey on MTV's Awkward.  The episode closes on a very thorough pee-talking session featuring sincere shout-outs to Chris Gethard for his brilliant letter to a troubled fan, Greg Fitzsimmons for his unrivaled podcast, and the fundraisers springing up in Nikki D's hometown to support a girl with cancer.  Dig in.
